I
admit it... Paradise Hotel has become one of the guilty
pleasures of this Summer of 2003. Despite all the discomforting
and cheesy moments, the show has won me over and I
continue to tune in to see what surprises are around
the corner.
The
past two episodes (including the most recent episode
23 on Mon. 9-8-03) were at times almost unbearable
to watch. The
guests
that
were
evicted
have
come back to haunt us (not to mention the winners in
this game so far). I think it may have worked better
over the course of one episode, but to stretch the
bad karma over two episodes has been pure torture.
But if that is not bad enough, one of the twists and
turns of paradise is that two of the former guests
(evicted losers) will be coming back to continue playing
for the ultimate prize. As
Amanda said "we said no new guests, but we never said
no new old guests", or something to that effect.
Fun
trick. You pulled a fast one on us. You scammed us!
That is why they suddenly stopped saying "leave Paradise
Hotel
forever",
which is what they kept saying to evicted guests previously
this season.
Now
I know this is only a TV show and that it should not
be taken too
seriously.
After
all
we
are
just watching
it on the small screen and not living it like the
peeps playin' da game. But on the other hand, part
of what has drawn me into the show was to see the "good"
guys win for a change. It was enjoyable to see bad
behaving brats get voted off. Granted, everbody was
scheming and such, but it was refreshing
to see
people
with
integrity and manners actually get the power to push
out the annoying and evil guests.
It
was such a relief when Toni and Zack were booted. There
was some comfort in knowing they wouldn't be tormenting
us (or the guests) any more. But the producers have
decided to bring all those loser guests back and not
only that - they are now letting two of the losers
back in the game.
Beau
(annoying) and Melanie (earliest guest evicted) are
now back in the game. They were voted on by the winning
guests. So
where am I going with this... Well... the game was
just starting to get interesting and it was fun watching
the strategies unfold. It was pretty much open to anyone
winning when they brought in the old sore losers. And
now there are two losing guests back in the game and
they have an agenda. So basically I feel like the producers
have slanted the game so the guests that I have been
rooting for have next to no chance to survive. Not
only did they beat them up by torturing them with the
vindictive
guests, but now they made it next to impossible for
any of them to win the game.
Not
sure if Paradise Hotel is really a game anyways as
they never have declared what the prize actually is,
other than it is
the "ultimate
prize".
Well I say they dropped the ultimate scam on us. Twists
and turns are OK, but changing the rules kind of alienates
the people who have been loyal viewers. Well enough
of that.

Team: Amy, Beau, Melanie, Holly, Scott, Desiree, and
Tom (7)
Lets
just say that my personal faves the Barbies, Keith,
Tara, Dave and Charla have next to zero chance of lasting
more
than
a couple
more
episodes,
unless of course there are suddenly some twists and
turns that tip the scales back in their favor.
And my guess is that Scott will be the winning man along
with either Holly or Melanie.
Oh
well - it's just a TV show. And I guess like it or
not we'll
just have to tune in to find out what happens...
