Day's Introduction to Last Comic Standing Season
2
Article by Mike Liebner
The
second season of Last Comic Standing is
coming to us soon! The program will debut
on June 8, 2004 on NBC with a two hour
episode.
The series Last
Comic Standing: The search for the
funniest person in Amerca is hosted
by comedian/actor Jay Mohr. Personally,
I think Jay Mohr is a brilliant actor and
I was mesmerized by his character in the
short lived Fox series Action!, one of
the best shows to ever hit TV. In fact
it is hard to see Mohr as anybody other
than the smug rude Hollywood executive
he played in that half hour comedy. Unfortunately
Action was cancelled and yanked off
the air before even being allowed to garner
an audience (we all know critical acclaim
doesn’t count for much, hence the
recently cancelled Wonderfalls).

In any event, it
appears Jay Mohr has landed on a winner
and will be walking the show through
it’s second season, apparently as
executive producer in addition to the host
of the festivities. Jay Mohr has also recently
made dramatic appearances on West Wing,
and of course is well known for his tenure
on Saturday Night Live..
The premise is that a nation wide talent
search yields 10 male and female stand
up comedian finalists who end up living
in a house (ala Surreal Life) and compete
for an exclusive talent contract. A healthy
dose of stand up comedy mixed with the
real life humiliations we have grown to
love so much make this show appealing to
a wide audience.
Stay tuned to find out whether we think
the show is funny or deserves to be heckled.
